Somehow my other button has stopped working. It only displays the button text now 🙁 (it’s under the big white text in the top white banner, hard to spot)

To center a button try to play with the paddding settings. (Padding top) .
The other question I can’t answer without a link so I can see what is happening, so I’ll be waiting for that

Will these padding setings display the same for everyone? No matter what browser or device they use?

The first time you load the page the button will appear.
The times after that i won’t work.
As so far as it goes on the internet it will indeed mostly look the same on all devices. We try to make the plugin display button as uniformly as possible, but you might understand that it’s not guaranteed in all cases.
For mobile devices we have responsive settings by the way.
Looks like I missed that URL the first time, sorry for that. I checked but the button ‘aanmelden’ loads every time here without problems.

i’ve found several threads of other people experiencing this, but none have provided me with the answer i’m looking for.
Ah right over there. That button is being loaded via javascript later than the page so the styling is not included ( I assume you are using the shortcode there as well ).
Try to add to the shortcode the style tag like so : [maxbutton id=”1″ style=”inline”] and see if that works. ( of course replace the id with your button id )
