• My plugins used to upgrade fine before I started using WordPress 2.8. Now when I try to upgrade them, I get errors like below. I know it is WordPress and not the plugins because it started happening for all of them after upgrading. I am on a Windows hosting package with Exabytes.

    Downloading update from http://downloads.wp.xz.cn/plugin/search-everything.6.2.2.zip.

    Unpacking the update.

    Installing the latest version.

    Deactivating the plugin.

Removing the old version of the plugin.

    Could not create directory. C:\Domains\trevorpowell.com\wwwroot/wp-content/plugins/search-everything/

    Plugin upgrade Failed.

  • Not all plugins are currently compatible with WP 2.8.

If WordPress cannot create directory is because your hosting doesn’t allow to write in folders attached to nobody user.

Talk with them, tell them you have this problem (‘cannot create directory’) and they might solve it.

@esmi – I don’t think it’s a plugin compatibility issue. I think it has to do with the WordPress plugin automatic upgrade functionality, which would apply to all plugins.

@bi0xid – Do you know if something changed with the architecture for that part in WordPress? It used to work fine for me. Now though, it successfully deletes the old version of the plugin but fails to copy in the new one.
