Alternate uploads folder

    I am using the alternate uploads folder advanced setting in attempts to upload files to a non public folder outside of the root of my site so that the files are not viewable by a url search.

    my system path is C:\Webs\EmployeesFiles\uploads\
    and I left the direct url blank.
    My root folder with the website is at C:\Webs\Employees\

    I can upload the files and I can see that they are there on the server as well as when i go to see the files as a client, but when I click on the file to download it, it comes back with a 404 error type page saying nothing was found.

    Am I doing something wrong?
