# AMP flexibility?

 * Hello,
 * Am in the process of building the AMP version of our site. Am I mistaken, or
   is Smush not really designed to automatically resize and deliver AMP-ready images?
   I was really hoping this plug-in would help bridge that gap so I don’t have to
   entirely redo all of my product images to be an appropriate size/resolution.
 * Any advise on how to help automate this process within WP would be appreciated.
 * On a different note: it is disappointing not to find some way of excluding select
   images from Smush automatic compression too 🙁 Smush is a very well engineered
   application in all other regards, so it’s surprising to see it missing something
   that seems so essential. Hope you guys add that feature in the future.

 * Smush will optimize all the images in your media library. What do you mean by
   AMP-ready images? If you registered size for those images, Smush will also optimize
   that size.
    If you didn’t register image size for AMP, Smush can’t add size on
   its own. If you added that size after adding images, then you need to use plugin
   like that [https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/)

 * Here’s a little MU plugin that could be used to exclude specific images (by ID):
 * [https://gist.github.com/wpmudev-sls/f07745e142e6dcb3c902838c9e428bfb](https://gist.github.com/wpmudev-sls/f07745e142e6dcb3c902838c9e428bfb)
 * Just edit line #18 with the image(s) ID(s) and upload the PHP file to /wp-content/
   mu-plugins/ folder (just create the /mu-plugins/ folder, if it doesn’t exist
   already).
 * kind regards,
    Kasia

 * Hello [@kapricious](https://wordpress.org/support/users/kapricious/) ,
 * I’m sorry for creating confusion on my side!

 * We have that feature 🙂 (without using the code snippet, sorry). You can ignore
   images directly from the Media Library. Next to the Smush link there is Ignore
   and it does exactly what you need. It excludes images from bulk Smush.

 * Hello Kasia,
 * Thank you for the wonderful assistance.
 * By “amp-ready images”, I meant images that were more appropriately sized images
   generated exclusively for mobile AMP. Example: my main banner graphic is 2000
   px wide, great for desktop version. However, my understanding is AMP is generally
   425 px wide (max). To improve pagespeed scores, its suggested to either have
   a way to auto-resize and deliver properly sized images or have two sets. Was
   hoping Smush had some way to accomplish this automatically, so I don’t have to
   continue modifying the actual size of all of my graphics.
 * I also do not see the “Smush | Ignore” options you showed. In my Media Library,
   I select an image and the only Smush-related stuff I see includes a “View Stats”
   link, but no other links/options I can select. Explored the “Edit Image” link
   thinking maybe it was in there, but no luck.
 * Thank you again for your help!

 * Hello [@kapricious](https://wordpress.org/support/users/kapricious/)
 * I trust you are doing well!
 * I’m afraid Smush plugin doesn’t resize thumbnails images, it only can resize
   originally uploaded images. Thumbnails images, for mobile included, can be resized
   with Smush CDN that is not available in free version of the plugin.
 * > I also do not see the “Smush | Ignore” options you showed.
 * The “View Stats” is showing up when an image is already being optimized. Please
   upload a new image without optimizing it and _Ignore_ option will be shown.
 * Let us know if you have any further questions!
