Has anybody figured that years ago you could use drop-down box in mega menu and and add the posts by clicking and dragging. What happened? WordPress now requires you to input each post in an individual window one at a time

I’m not sure what you’re referring to. WordPress itself has never had a mega menu; you need plugins for that. Which one do you use for your mega menu? Feel free to show us a screenshot, see: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/forum-user-guide/block-editor/#adding-screenshots
