# An error occurred while processing your request

 * Hello. I’d be very grateful for some advice please.
 * The front end of the website is working fine, but certain events are resulting
   in a blank screen with the following message.
 * _“An error occurred while processing your request. Reference #97.a955ee3f.1531593930.11d70e1”_
 * These events include trying to log in to the dashboard and submitting a contact
   form via the front end:

 * I’ve tried in different browsers and on different ISP connections, but the same
   happens. I’ve also had other users report the same when trying to submit the 
   contact form. The server company are adamant the site works fine for them, but
   I’m far from convinced.
 * I’ve got no dashboard access, so have renamed my themes and plugins folders via
   FTP, but no joy.
 * PHP version is 7.1, so that should be fine.
 * The site has been working okay on this server, but the issue has appeared in 
   the last week.
 * I’ve tried a completely fresh installation of WordPress in a sub folder with 
   a new database, but get to the initial stage of choosing an installation language,
   click submit, then I’m presented with the same error message.

 * Please check the error logs on your server for a more specific error message,
   which may give a clue to why this is happening on your website/server. If you
   need help locating them, ask your hosting provider to help you with that.

 * Thanks for your reply t-p
 * Unfortunately the last entry in the error log was from 11 July, so no clues relating
   to the issue I’m seeing over the last couple of days.
