Hi Kevin, thanks for reaching out. The snippet you are referring to is the opt out snippet only, which appears if a user chooses to not count logged in users.

You’ll find an additional snippet containing your Analytics account ID. Let me know if that answers your question of if you have any further queries on this.
In relation to not being able to find an existing property have you signed into Site Kit with a Google account with access to that property, or are you selecting the parent account with that property?

Ok, got it for that “opt-in” snippet. So, since my app requires login I should enable this if I want to track all logged in users, not just logged in WordPress admins. Can I exclude an IP address?
Also, to confirm, even though Start Kit automatically adds this “opt-out” snippet, I still need to manually add the additional snippet contained in the Analytics account ID, if not already added? However, if the code was already add previously, I just add Site Kit and good to go? In this case, Will data before adding Site Kit still be available?

That’s up to you to select your preference. The default option is to not include logged in users. There are “Views” options within Site Kit, which you could use to exclude IP Addresses. This would need to be applied on the Analytics side, here is a guide.

Site Kit can place your full Analytics tracking snippet for you (along with your opt-out snippet). There is no need to manually insert any Analytics snippet if you choose. If you do however prefer to manually insert your snippet Site Kit will recognize this, so your stats won’t be impacted, and you can still see your Analytics data within your Site Kit dashboards with your manual snippet. Note that if you choose to allow Site Kit to place your snippet you can connect to your preferred Analytics property, so your data would remain.

Looks like I was able to sort it out. I had two accounts and moved everything to obne account, so I see all my properties now in that one account.
Note: I’m still testing whether the tag get added automatically for my sites. For the site in question I added it manually. That said, for the site in question and been a few weeks now and I see the following message for Search Funnel:
– “Search Console Gathering Data: Search Console data is not yet available, please check back later.”
However, it does say 1 “Unique Visitors from Search”. I have generated my own search traffic and clicked through the Google search results to land on my site. So, why would the Search Console not be displaying anything?

However, it does say 1 “Unique Visitors from Search”. I have generated my own search traffic and clicked through the Google search results to land on my site. So, why would the Search Console not be displaying anything?
This refers to “Unique Visitors”, so if you’ve just added Site Kit and connected the modules this may be reflecting your visit only so far, with multiple visits from your own site counted as 1 unique visitor.
