 * Hey guys,
 * I understand this is a common issue with people who poke around in the .php one
   too many times, and I’ve seen a few fixes on here. I’m very much a beginner,
   and likely had no business fooling with the functions.php, but alas, I did.
 * I’ve read that the only way to fix the error is to restore the original theme,
   yet I’m not quite sure of how to even do that.
 * Can somebody please explain to me, as though I were a third grader, the easiest
   way to restore the site? I’m not sure how to re-edit any of the code, as I’m
   unable to access any part of the website, or dashboard.
 * Thanks everybody,
 * – Joe (thebigrocks.com)

 * Download a fresh copy of your theme to your computer. Open the archive and extract
   the functions.php file. Upload this file to your theme’s folder in wp-content/
   themes using [FTP](http://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients) (or whatever file
   management application your host provides),

 * That’s an excellent way of stating it, “as if I were a 3rd grader”, that’s how
   I feel too. Same error and situation for me.
 * I downloaded the new theme copy, copied the html from the functions.php file,
   opened my old one in ftp, and pasted the html on there. I was prompted to update
   at server, and answered yes.
 * Still not fixed.
 * Did I do something wrong, or do I have to go further, like replace the entire
   theme?
 * Obviously I want to avoid this, as I’ll have to redo all of my plug-ins and edits
   I’ve done to the theme.
 * Thanks.
