Another plugin Conflict

Jeff,

I finally got this upgraded and the other two issues I had are gone. However I am getting all 404’s on the pages for a custom post type using the Fly PLugins WP Courseware. All the course Units are giving a 404 when the plugin is activated. I have tried to save permalinks over and over and nothing works to get them back until the plugin is disabled. No errors in the apache logs either.

The old 2.6.3 was still the most reliable version of this plugin to date. The old URL function worked perfectly for everything in that URL chain and the new filters don’t work the same way. I am giving up and rolling back yet again. It’s a bit annoying the settings are all lost every time I roll back and upgrade as well.

This is also happening on custom post pages for another one called Testimonials Widget. Both are custom post types and are yielding 404’s when the plugin is activated. With the stability of the old one it’s very disappointing the latest versions have so many issues with these custom post types and the old version did not.

Stranely if I do not network activate it I can seem to make it work. If I activate only on the individual sites things different. It’s getting way too wonky for me.

Its because all networked plugins are loaded last.

So I removed the network activation but it still 404’s out the tesimonial plugin. that one is a free one can you install it on a test server you have and see if you get the 404? Clearly the permalinks are getting jacked up but only on that one.

Also new filters don’t seem to work as well as the old URL entries. I used to be able to do say:

http://www.v-fit.us/module-1/inviting-people-to-challenge-groups/
http://www.v-fit.us/module-1/welcome-to-the-boot-camp/

and in the URL admin use:
http://www.v-fit.us/module-1/

and it would cover plugin loads on all pages in that URL string. The new filter method does not seem to be picking that up. The original two issues are gone but now I have to deal with these in order to upgrade from 2.6.3 and the 404’s on testimonials I cannot seem to see the issue.

Open PluginOrganizer.class.php and remove line 1175. The code you want to remove is
```
flush_rewrite_rules( false );
```
See if that changes anything.

I already rolled it back and re-configured it. I suppose I can try again but is it possible for you to drop the Testimonials plugin in and see as well?

I have installed that plugin and yes that fixes the 404 issue. I’ll be releasing a new version in a few days that will fix this as well as your issue with network activated plugins loading last.

Jeff,

Your response time and attention to your uses ROCKS! 🙂 I really want to get this up to the correct latest version, I have three old plugins to get updated correctly updated and this is one is on the list. I hate having things get too old.

Thanks again for working on this I want to get it up to date so it works like the old one.

One thing can you help me understand the new use of the filters? Should they work with partial URL paths and thus adopt anything else beyond that \

Ex:

http://www.v-fit.us/module-1/inviting-people-to-challenge-groups/
http://www.v-fit.us/module-1/welcome-to-the-boot-camp/

Should the Filter be able to use:
http://www.v-fit.us/module-1/

And cover all things in that URL like the old version did. I will wait until the next update to install since it removes my current settings and every time I need to re-configure so I only want to do this one more time and be done 🙂

Yes. The plugin filters should work just like the urls in the old url admin. I just uncovered a bug in the logic for selecting the plugin filters when the MU plugin is searching for disabled/enabled plugins. If it comes across a post or plugin filter at any point it will stop because I’m not skipping posts that have nothing set like the plugin used to do. Which would explain your problem where the filters don’t work the way the old URL admin used to. I think I’ve got it fixed and I’m working through some testing on my sites to make sure I’ve got everything.

It’s an awesome plugin I love it for do many reasons, so let’s get it good to go and I will do a once and final upgrade….hopefully without a rollback!

Just note to test with WP 3.6 as well I am up to date there too. Looking forward to the update. I’d love to get this in tomorrow I have a lot of changes to make of the weekend,

I have released version 3.2. It adds the ability to change the load order of networked plugins, adds a name field to plugin filters, and fixes a logic problem with the MU plugin. Let me know if this fixes your issues.

Initial testing seems to show it working. I have to move my site to a new server as well so I am doing a lot 🙂
