Any good subscribing plugin available?

I have tried two:

Simple Subscribe has messed up with my footer panel, hiding it, making people unable to log in and other stuff, after I have updated more plugins recently. It is gone, despite I was happy with it up to the failure.

I have tried the Subscriber of BWS plugins but I not only was not able to set it up, it will not do what I need. I have already got this information on their website.

What I need is to place it into the sidebar among other few widgets and that people can subscribe for new blog posts updates. Can you advise me on some good and reliable one that will do that? Without the mess, of course.
If it had other functions, such as subscribing for individual posts or even comments under that posts, that would be fine, but the main reason is the priority for me.
