 * So, I just created my own wordpress.org account and I originally installed the
wordpress stats plugin onto the page. However, I used an old wordpress.com’s
api key that I no longer have control over to install the wordpress stat plugin
onto wordpress.org site. That old wordpress.com profile is now connected with
and can control my wordpress.org account’s information. How can I get rid of
this connection betweeen the two accounts or disable that old wordpress.com from
being able to view my hosted website? I have created a new wordpress.com account
since so, that I can use that account’s API keys for my hosted website. I heard
this is something WordPress support would have to fix. Any help please?

 * You’ll have to contact wordpress.com’s support department here:

 * You can change the API key by following this instruction here:
    [http://en.support.wordpress.com/api-keys/#changing-the-api-key-used-for-stats](http://en.support.wordpress.com/api-keys/#changing-the-api-key-used-for-stats)
 * You’ll need to start this process by logging in as the old API Key’s account.
Don’t forget to select the correct web site in the step #3 — “make sure you are
viewing stats for the blog you want to modify”)
 * If all fails though, contact WordPress.com support as James suggested.

 * Hey,
 * I want to change my API Key and followed the steps on [http://en.support.wordpress.com/api-keys/](http://en.support.wordpress.com/api-keys/)
   to do so.
 * The problem is, when I (Step 7) deactivate and activate the WordPress.com Stats
plugin (or even when I delete and reinstall it) I do not get a warning so that
I can’t go to the configuration page where I could change the API Key…
 * All that happens is that I of course can’t follow my stats in my externally-hosted
blog’s dashboard anymore (“Your WordPress.com account, …. is not authorized to
view the stats of this blog”)
 * Is there another way to change the API Key?
 * I’d be grateful for any advise thx

 * There was an update on the stats plugin recently. It will now clear the API key
data when you disable it. You should update the plugin and give it another try.

 * I’m running version 1.7.5 and it doesn’t clear the API key. Was this issue resolved?
