# API Key Invalid

 * I’m trying to link my mailchimp account to my website, and when I enter the API
   into the plugin, I receive the following message below. I’ve tried contacting
   mailchimp already and they said the API looks good on their end.

 * Unauthorized. API Key Invalid. Your API key may be invalid, or you’ve attempted
   to access the wrong datacenter.
 * Request:

 * Usually this really does mean that the API key is invalid, or that MailChimp 
   has blocked your account form using the API.
 * You can use your browser to go to:
    [https://us17.api.mailchimp.com/3.0/?apikey=INSERT-YOUR-KEY-HERE](https://us17.api.mailchimp.com/3.0/?apikey=INSERT-YOUR-KEY-HERE)
 * and see if that returns some account info, or if it returns the same error.
    
   If you see the error there as well you confirmed it’s an issue with the API key
   and not with our plugin or your hosting server.
