We tested by submitting a .docx file on your provided URL. The form seems to be working correctly also we received a success message on our end.
We recommend you to flush the cache if you are using any cache plugin. Also, it might be possible that the plugins installed on your website are conflicting with Simple Job Board. Please deactivate all plugins except SJB and check for any issues. If you are still experiencing the same issue then try switching your theme to any WP Twenty theme to test if there is a theme confliction.

I did clear my cache, deactivated all plugins my plugins and also tried on a Twenty theme and I am still not able to submit a .docx file. I also had someone try it from a different computer and it still did not work.

We tested by submitting applications with .docx file format on different browsers/time zones and it’s submitted successfully. Here is success message screenshot https://prnt.sc/j7erg1
You can also check our submissions under applicants. So we are unable to reproduce the issue.

Since I can’t get this issue resolved, how can I edit the resume field to say that it does not accept .docx files? And how do I change the resume field so that it is not a required field?

To restrict the users from submitting .docx files please navigate to SJB dashboard Settings=>Upload File Extensions and select only those file formats which you require. (Make sure to unselect .docx file format) and uncheck “Enable all Extensions” checkbox.
In order to make resume field optional, “How To Apply” add-on is available. Please visit “SIMPLE JOB BOARD ADD-ONS” section on the plugin page.
