# Archives permalink redirection

 * Hi guys,
 * I’ve recently upgraded my blog to WP 2.7. So far I’ve been using the “www.domain.
   com/archives/year/month/day/title” URL format for the blog permalinks, but I 
   would like to ditch the “archives” from the URL to make it simply have “www.domain.
   com/year/month/day/title”. I’m aware that I can do this from admin panel (Permalink
   Settings), but what I would also like to do is redirect the old archives URL 
   requests to the new non-archives URL, such that:
 * [http://www.domain.com/archives/year/month/day/title](http://www.domain.com/archives/year/month/day/title)
 * ..redirects to..
 * [http://www.domain.com/year/month/day/title](http://www.domain.com/year/month/day/title)
 * Please help me resolving this. Thanks!

 * Actually, it seems like I don’t even need a plugin for the permalink redirection.
   Changing the permalink settings in the admin panel works by itself. All old archives
   URL’s forward to the new URL structure.

 * WP may automatically update your links but you’ll need a redirect until the Search
   Engines update their links to your site.
