Are simultaneous submissions impossible ?

    Hello,

    I did some tests on submissions to my form, and I noticed that the submissions that were sent at the same moment (i.e. as humanly possible, I clicked on the submit button on my phone and on my computer simultaneously) would not reach the google sheet even though the confirmation message was displayed, whereas those with a slight time separation (even if less than a second) would go through correctly to the google sheet.

    Is it intentional or does the submission-system can only treat one submit at a time ?

    This worries me as it seems to be very risky to make a lot of people submit at the same time (a class or some attending assembly for example).

    Hi there!

    You can absolutely have more than one submission at the same time… I just tested using the same form on a laptop and phone and clicked send at the same time, both submissions were successful and both made it to the Google Sheet 🙂

    Actually the problem was on my side.

    I’ll just detail the sneaky problem which permitted this weird situation I was undergoing for future troubleshooting :

    The fact is that nearly half on the time, the submissions would not go through (most of the time when I submitted several submissions simultaneously, but maybe it was just chance).
    This was weird because on my side, everything seemed fine, the google access code was ok, the sheet name was ok, the tab name was ok.

    But I just discovered (by tweaking options on zapier trying to sort this problem) that there was actually two sheets with the same name linked to my google drive. That was weird because I would only see one in my drive.

    Actually, this other sheet was not in my main google drive folder (so not directly visible to me) because it was a shared sheet, with indeed the same name. It was a test sheet that I first created on my personal google drive several months ago and that I shared with the google drive account that I use today, before recreating it for starting new. I did not revoke the share, so I was having two sheets with the same name (and the same tabs) on my drive, without me acknowledging.
    And indeed, when I opened this duplicate shared sheet, I found all the missing submissions that I thought did not get through, quietly waiting for me.
    I guess that the submissions would go randomly to one sheet or the other in this situation because the sheet and tab names were identical.

    So folks, beware of the forgotten shared sheet.
