 * google recently released an [updated version of the analytics javascript snippet which is completely asynchronous](http://code.google.com/apis/analytics/docs/tracking/asyncTracking.html),
meaning it doesn’t impact page loading/ rendering any more.
 * there’s some great info about the impact of javascript-widgets and tracking code
   [on steve souders’ blog](http://www.stevesouders.com/p3pc/).
 * any chance wordpress will follow suit and provide us an update to wp stats which
   is completely asynchronous as well?

 * I would LOVE to have this as well, even more since the stats.wordpress.com included.
js and .gif file (the smiley) is adding a lot of latency (respectively +500ms
and 727ms) to my page load and thus blocking rendering of my pages.

 * I also mailed wordpress support for this issue and got a reply which states:
 * > I’ve brought this suggestion to the attention of our team, but I can’t promise
   > any kind of delivery on it at this time. We *do* currently load the JS for
   > stats as late as possible to prevent inhibiting page rendering.
 * the problem is that even if the javascript is loaded as late as possible, it
still does slow down page rendering.
 * let’s hope that someone at auttomatic looks at [steve souders’ blog](http://www.stevesouders.com/p3pc/)
to gain some insight in the performance benefits of loading javascript asynchronously.

 * Thanks futta. At least it’s on their list now. Let’s hope for the best.
 * PS I love Steve’s blog. Learned so much about web performance.

 * this has just become extra important with [google confirming that from now on speed has an impact on ranking](http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2010/04/using-site-speed-in-web-search-ranking.html).
