Authenticate From .net site into WordPress

I have a website (.net/asp) that I want authenticated users to be able to go to my wordpress (buddypress) site and be automatically identified and authenticated with the main site’s credentials….and vice versa. I have waded through a ton of security posts but none of them seem to fit this scenario or I’m not technical enough to recognize the solution.
