# Authentication problem with gmail

 * Hi,
 * I am getting the following error when configuring the plugin with gmail “There
   was an error while processing the authentication request. Please try again.”
 * So far I have tried enabling less secure apps and disabling mod security altogether
   and I still see the problem. Any help here is appreciated.

 * I have the same issue. I try to authenticate.
 * I get a “not verified” message.
 * Go to advanced and continue anyways.
 * Then select my gmail account and select allow.
 * Then when I’m back at the WP SMTP it gives me a green success message, but doesn’t
   authenticate or save my gmail account to send emails with.
