    Hello,

I have an issue similar to the one described in this thread, where manual posting works when publishing or updating a post with “Instant sharing” ticked, but automatic posting does not.

I can’t see the Cron setting mentioned in the thread mentioned above, which helped in fixing the issue. Could please tell me if I’m missing something obvious? Should it be in “General settings”?

I’m hoping for posts older than 2 days and younger than 12 to be posted. Minimum post age is 2, maximum post age is 12, and this latter setting was set before the recent plugin version which locks it from now on was released (see other thread for explanation).

    Thank you!

Hi, it might be because you’ve been using the plugin for a long time. That setting is only shown to recent users but it’s a working progress so we still advise users to stay on “Local Cron” which if you can’t see the option, then that means you’re already on that setting.

Please install this plugin: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/wp-crontrol/ then go to Tools->Cron events and send us a screenshot of the page, there should be an entry in there called “rop_cron” which is the Revive Old Posts scheduled task. If it’s not present then it means it some how got removed.

If the next run column also shows that scheduled tasks are in the past then it would mean that your WP Cron is not working as it should, please send us the screenshot so we can take a look

    Hello,

Thank you for the fast answer, screenshot is available here:
    https://fichiers.ouvaton.coop/f.php?h=2gu_E4AM&p=1.

“rop_cron_job” event is listed, with a “next run” in the near future (few minutes after screenshot was taken).

@wpguillaume So can you let us know more about your issue? Do you have any posts in the sharing queue?

You need to make sure that you click “Start Sharing” on the plugin and that it’s started. If no posts meet the criteria/filter you set then nothing would show up.

So if you set minimum post age 2 and maximum post age 12, then if no posts meet those criteria then the plugin wouldn’t show any post in the sharing queue and the log would show an error that no posts meet the criteria.

On the plugin main page, I indeed see “Sharing…” on green background, with “Stop sharing” on red background underneath. I assume it’s working.

We publish only a few posts each month, so I can’t see if it’s working right now.

Just in case: We create posts, and sometimes, only days later, they get published.
What is the “age” criteria used by ROP? If it’s the publish date, then I need to search for the error elsewhere. If it’s the creation date, then maybe all of our recent posts were published more than 12 days after they were created, and never made it to the sharing queue.

If the plugin is stuck on “Sharing…” then something is wrong and your posts aren’t going out as they should. Proper behaviour would be when you see the “Next share: …”

Let’s take this from the top and figure out whats happening on your website and how to fix it or what a better workflow might be.

Please send us a support ticket here: https://revive.social/direct-support/ and add a link to this thread inside it as well. We’ll take a closer look at your issue there

    Hello,

Thank you, I’ve sent the ticket a few days ago. Don’t know how to get back to it though, so I’m adding here that two new posts were published on May 16h.
First was posted at 11:25. The log is filled with messages like this one:

No posts are available to share for your account. Try activating the Share more than once option or changing the minimum and maximum post age setting to widen the pool of available posts. 18 May 2021 11hh25:47

The same message appears twice, every five minutes or so.

Both posts were created less than 12 days ago, the question I had in my previous post in this thread does not seem relevant here.

    Thank you!

    Hello @uriahs-victor,

One additional information, in case it helps: on this link are the messages I get each time I use instant sharing.

    Thank you very much!

EDIT: I stopped and started sharing again, using the main button on ROP dashboard.
I now see the “next share” message, counting down 5 hours (as set) (https://ibb.co/gMmzddM). I’ll report once I have post candidates that should get in this queue.

    Auto-posting works, yay. 🙂

Well, it works a bit too well, actually (https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/posts-get-re-shared-even-with-share-more-than-once-not-ticked/), but this is another issue though, so this one is indeed solved. Thank you.

    Hi @uriahs-victor,

Looks like I wrote too soon.

If I click “Stop sharing” on ROP dashboard, then click “Start sharing”, then auto-posting works if I have some posts that are eligible to get in the sharing queue.

But it seems that if there isn’t, or if these posts get shared and then there aren’t any other eligible posts, I get the message below, and from then on it stops working, even if there are new posts that get eligible later.

    Error encountered
No posts are available to share for your account. Try activating the Share more than once option or changing the minimum and maximum post age setting to widen the pool of available posts.

I then have to stop/start sharing for the new posts to get in the sharing queue.

Thank you again for your help.

    Hello,

We ended up using the instant sharing feature, which is fine for our workflow at the moment.
I’ll indeed send a ticket if we ever need the auto posting to work.

Thank you again for the plugin and support!
