 * i noticed that vendors could register on the site, and they would be automatically
   approved without the admin. i have not found anything in settings to disable 
   this.
 * i would like to manually approve vendors.

 * You can disable automatic approval or selling capability of the vendors from

 * i have done that and new vendors can still add products.
 * basically, what I want is for vendors to go through an approval process before
   being able to add products.

 * If you have enabled that, this should not be happening. Please check the vendor’s
   user settings from wp-admin > Users > Edit the vendor profile and look for these
   settings – [https://prnt.sc/uf90z4](https://prnt.sc/uf90z4). This should be disabled
   of that vendor.

 * while this works for single vendors, i want something where, the vendor registers
   but waits for approval before they can start publishing…

 * The feature you are looking for is actually the first reply I shared. The settings
   under Dokan > Settings > Selling Options – [https://prnt.sc/udd1dn](https://prnt.sc/udd1dn)
   needs to be disabled if you want vendors should not be able to add products without
   permission.
 * If that is not working you can contact our support channel with your site details
   so that we can investigate directly.
