# Automatic excerpt

 * does wordpress not generate an automatic excerpt? Do I have to enter an excerpt
   for each post on its own?

 * WordPrss will take the first 55 words of any post that you make and use that 
   as an excerpt if you don’t enter one yourself.

 * Thanks, then somehow it doesn’t work, I use elementor and oceanWP theme and the
   excerpt is not generated. Is there a way to check why it isn’t generated?

 * You would have to ask the themes authors why.
