 * Hi Support,
 * A few days ago I updated to the latest WordPress version 2.7.1 via the new automatic
   upgrade function.
 * Unfortunately since then I can’t use this function anymore. Also the plugin install
   function (not via the own ftp) isn’t working anymore.
 * This is the error message I get when trying to install a plugin within WordPress.

   _____ Plugin will be installed: WP-PageNavi 2.40
 * The WordPress Plugin directory can not be found.
    Installation failed. _____
 * It did work fine before I upgraded to 2.7.1!
 * I have also already tried to give the folders different rights. Treid it with
   CHMOD 775 and 777. And it still didn’t work ;(
 * I really hope you’ll be able to help, as I think this function is really really
   helpful and I would use it a lot.
 * Many thank,
    mirtei

 * HI,
 * Please check with the folder ownership as it may be corrupted..and also check
   with the FTP details that you have set for automatic upgrade plugin.
 * Thanks,

 * Hey Shane,
 * First of all thanks for your support.
 * Can you specify where exactly I can check the folder ownerships or how I can
   fix it?
    Also, where do I set the ftp details for the automatic upgrade plugin?
 * Thanks in advance!

 * whenever i try to install a plugin via the automatic install it tells me it can
   not connect to the server. I put in all the correct information and still get
   the same problem. What should I do?

 * I have similar problems, I still have two sites; one using WordPress 2.5.1 and
   another one using 2.6
 * The 2.5.1 cannot seem to automatic upgrade the plugins from the dashboard.
    It
   always says something like this:
 * >  Downloading update from ……
   > Unpacking the update
   > Could not copy file
 * Any insights?
 * I’ve tried the following solutions as other people have suggested:
    1. Add the
   FTP account and put it on the config file ([http://blog.noizeramp.com/2008/09/10/wordpress-unable-to-locate-wordpress-plugin-directory/](http://blog.noizeramp.com/2008/09/10/wordpress-unable-to-locate-wordpress-plugin-directory/))
   2. chmod the folders to 777
 * Nothing works yet …
