 * Why can a forum like SMF use an internal mechanism to update, yet WordPress relies
   on the user to delete some (but not all files), upload new ones and then run 
   a script?
 * I find it rather annoying and don’t understand why WordPress can’t be as nice
   and easy as well.

 * I was prompted to upgrade today and I found a mention of [this auto-update plugin](http://techie-buzz.com/wordpress-plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade-plugin.html).
   It’s not quite as nice as having a built-in upgrade system but it is less of 
   a headache than manual FTP uploading.

 * Looks as this was [given the OK by Matt](http://trac.wordpress.org/ticket/5560)
   for 2.6. Maybe we’ll see it completed and in there, if not for 2.6, by 2.7.
