• Hi team,

I have been facing an issue where after every new update of the theme, it doesn’t apply automatically. I have to manually update it, which sometimes breaks a few elements until fixed.

Is there a known issue with auto-updates for some themes or is this something that needs to be enabled from the backend?

I noticed this especially while running a gaming content site like The Game Spike, where layout consistency is important after updates.

Any help or pointers would be appreciated!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • You can enable automatic updates for your theme by going into the backend > Appearance> Themes, and then clicking ‘enable automatic updates’ for the theme.

I’m a little confused by the sentence, “have to manually update it, which sometimes breaks a few elements until fixed”. Wouldn’t an automatic update also risk breaking a few things?

If all you are looking for is how to enable automatic updates, that is easy. If you are worried about theme updates messing with your website layout, I would keep automatic updates OFF, so that you can test for issues after updating the theme at a time of your choosing.

    Hope this is helpful!

In addition: there are also plugins that monitor visual changes through updates. An example: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/webchangedetector/
