# Automatic Upgrade Fail

 * I keep getting this error message when i try to upgrade automatically.
    does 
   anyone have a suggestion?
 *     ```
       Downloading update from http://wordpress.org/wordpress-2.8.5.zip
   
       Unpacking the core update
   
       Could not create directory: /public_html/wp-content/upgrade/core
   
       Installation Failed
       ```

 * i think it has to do with the folder permissions on your [http://ftp.](http://ftp.).
   try raising the permissions.

 * that’s what i figured. do u know …is there a particular file I need to change
   the permission on?

    not an expert sorry.
