 * I have been using WordPress as a CMS/Blog for my band’s website and I am having
trouble finding a plugin to do exactly what I want, so I figured I’d post here.
 * Currently, the members in my band use a Google Spreadsheet to put in their availability
and work schedules. We use it to figure out when to hold practices. Now I a collaborative
m trying to move everything we do over to the WordPress install on our server.
Is there a plugin that does something similar? Maybe even more specifically for
the availability of users within a WordPress install, probably something useful
with blogs with multiple authors and contributors.
 * I don’t want the calendar to be public, rather internal. But that is something
that can easily be fixed with minor editing.

 * Why aren’t you guys using Google Calendar rather than Spreadsheet?

 * I have no idea, the drummer set it up and we thought it was a good idea so we
went with it. Still, is there any sort of plugin that for WordPress that can
give us this kind of functionality internally?

 * Well there was your first mistake, never let the drummer make any decisions!
   😉
 * Calendars and event planning is still an area where WordPress has a lot of room
for growth. There are only a few decent plugins, and they are all designed to
be forward facing, for your visitors to see.
 * If you aren’t already using it, I’d strongly recommend [GigPress](http://gigpress.com/)
for publishing events for your fans. It’s an awesome plugin!
 * I don’t honestly think there is a plugin that would help you manage the members
of the band behind the scenes. But that’s ok, since only the band has to see
it, it doesn’t necessarily need to be a part of WordPress.
 * As I said, Google Calendar. That’s the first thing I would check out. It is _much_
easier to use than Google Spreadsheet, and built for what you want to do.
 * You create a separate calendar just for the band, stick everything on there,
gigs, practice times, and you can share it with the whole band. If you give them
permission to edit it, then everyone can pop in the times they are free, and
it should be easy to see where they line up for all of you.
 * I think you would have better luck with the calendar versus the spreadsheet.
It is more user friendly, you can add a widget to gmail, set up reminders, and
you can access it from a mobile. So no excuses for ditching practice! 🙂

 * I already found GigPress and love it. I found a plugin literally called Google
Calendar that let me embed a calendar right into our admin panel. I haven’t fully
set it up yet, but it should be perfect for what we need. Thanks for your help!

 * Ah, I forgot about that plugin, that would be handy. No problem mhenry!
