Hi John,
Users in AWPCP can have the option to edit their ads as follows:
– in the back end using the Ad Management panel
– in the front end using the access key/email (for non-registered users)
– in the front end using the BuddyPress module (for registered users with BP module installed and our AWPCP BP module)
– in the front end when they are logged in by visiting the ad
Any of those are possible–from what you state above, it sounds like you want the registered user/non BuddyPress option.
To get that, set Registration to “Require Registration” on AWPCP under Classifieds->Settings, Registration tab. And under General tab, UNCHECK the “Enable Ad Management Panel” That combo allows for what I think you want here.

yes, that’s right.
That works somehow but subscribers would still need to go to backend for updating their profiles or changing their passes and that procedure doesn’t completely mask the WP dashboard, that is really confusing for the average user as it brings a completely new environment to them that has nothing to do, visually, with the frontend.
If we want to completely obfuscate the WP backend dashboard from users, then AWPCP should provide ALL needed tools for subscribers in frontend and, in that sense, the profile management feature is still missing from there.
But no problem, for the time being I’m able to manage this backend with third party plugins and make it somehow user friendly and less confusing.
Thank you for your help!
Hi John,

WP is built on the model that each plugin should do one thing really well–I would suggest exploring other plugins that handle profile management to augment this capability. Without something like a membership plugin or a profile management plugin, you won’t be able to completely hide everything about the backend from your users.
But AWPCP won’t be handling the user profile anytime soon, since that deviates from the intent of what plugins should strive towards.

Thanks, I don’t agree with you but that’s fine, no problem.
In my humble opinion, a plugin like yours, that offers several actions to be taken at frontend for users, should also cover the basic user management tasks such as forgotten password and nickname edit in order to be a 100% frontend experience for users and avoid them to be taken to the backend.
