Background and theme image won't upload

    Hi all
    On my site https://unitedstatessoccertalk.wordpress.com I have been uploading a new background and header image in the customize section when editing the site. Unfortunately, when I save the images they never carry over to the actual site even though they show up fine in the site preview. I’m admittedly new to the site, so could someone explain to me what I’m doing wrong?
