 * I see that under “tools” in WP there is an “export” option. Should I be using
that to backup my database, or doing it through phpMyAdmin?

 * If I had to pick between the two, I would backup through phpMyadmin, but that
is only because I know it has worked for me every time I need to import a DB.
 * I have never imported a WP exported DB, but I am sure it works fine.
 * That being said, I do use the WP Database backup plug to email a copy of my DB
to myself everyday, though I have never had to use it before.
