• My site, balletnews.co.uk requires a full backup.

I’ve tried every single plugin in the directory and none can cope with the size of the backup.

My host provider also doesn’t allow for the amount of data I have.
My question is, what are the suggestions for getting a complete backup of my site please ?
I am not in the least bit technical, so please don’t assume any technical knowledge. What I’m looking for is a solution that I can set up and leave to do the work, backing up the site regularly, probably daily. I don’t mind, in fact I assume that it will cost me money, but it has to be easy to set up and it absolutely has to work. The other consideration is that it must be secure as I work with a lot of embargoed information that I have an obligation to keep secure until release date.

    Thanks so much.

So, how large is your WP site and how much space to you need for a backup?

I use the plugin BackWPUp and have it set to move the backup to Dropbox, so its use of server-hosted space is only temporary.

Hi, thanks for your reply Steve. I don’t know how much space I need because I’ve never managed to complete a back up.

I do know that the server is the issue, so none of the plugins are going to work for me. I was hoping for some recommended options beyond that….. or if I’ve missed something with the plugins and there is an option… great …. but as I said, it’s the server that is the issue and I’ve been told unless I back up in batches (just not feasible) I don’t have any other way around the server issue with using plugins.

There’s always the manual option — ftp the files from the server to your PC and do a database export via phpmyadmin.
