Hi there. I’ve tried this plugin a few times and it seems it is always stopping during the milestone process. I’m only going to migrate this WP to another domain. Some help needed. All the plugins and the core on the installation has been updated to today 2021-06-16, before testing. Thank you so much for any help.

Windows Server has quite low timeout value.
That means it will cancel the backup after some time of running.

We have another backup method which can solve this.
You can find them in „other options” section at the bottom:
- “Bypass web server timeout directive – backup process may be slower”
- …or “Bypass web server limits – it will disable automatic backup and possibility to run it in the background”
- Don’t forget to save the settings 🙂
Please try “Bypass web server limits – it will disable automatic backup and possibility to run it in the background”.

You can also make the backup in parts, I’ll give you instruction how to do it, it will help you migrate it a bit easier too.

In case when the another method would fail it will be the option 🙂

Hi.

The third option “Bypass web server limits” seemed to work. It completed the backup and genereted a file. However, the file url is wrong. Can’t download the backup file neither as “it is missing” from your interface. If I access it via a file manager or ftp it is there though.

The file name is: BM_Backup_2021-06-17_17_40_46_8780.zip
The interface (for migration, calls it: https://xxx.xxx.xxx/?backup-migration=BMI_BACKUP&backup-id=BM_Backup_2021-06-17_17_40_46_8780.zip
If I press download it states: No file found.

If I instead paste the long link to the migration tool it says:

Then, I just copied the URL from the file manager and pasted it into the super quick migration windows again, and this time it went well without errors.

After migration has been done, the only thing happens is that there is now a new folder in the root called: backup-migration_1623953834 which contains all the content from the zipped file and the zip-file..

Nothing else changed in the installation in the new site…

Hi @infoatintomusic

In case of download issues we allow two types of download.
You can change the logic under “Other settings” section.

The folder should be removed after successful restore.
That means probably something went wrong during the migration e.g. it was cancelled by your web server due to its time.

You can also make the migration via SSH which could be the best option for you (as long as you are moving to linux server, we haven’t tested this feature fully on Windows Server).

You can also make the backup in parts which should do the job for you well.
To do this:
1. Make one or more backups which would contain specified in first section files group, at this point uncheck database backup.
2. Once you do backup for specified group you can uncheck Files completely
3. Then make only database backup
4. Restore the backups in the order firstly files and database at the end.

That should make each backup smaller which should be easier for your server to process.
