“Backup now” not working

Hi,
BackWPup: version: 5.0.4: when I click on “Backup now” nothing happens. There are no downloads or logfiles. What can I do to start this feature?

Hi @tom2708 ,

That shouldn’t be happening, and we’re sorry for the trouble. Could you try the following steps?
1. Check the Logs – Even if no download starts, see if there are any logs under Settings > Backup History.
2. Try a Fresh Install – If you haven’t already, reinstalling the plugin can help clear any migration issues.
3. Check for Conflicts – Deactivate other plugins/themes temporarily to rule out conflicts.

Hello,

I have follwed the a. m. steps and can tell you the folllowing:
1) As I have already told you, there had been no recent logs, only a few older ones.
2) A fresh install did not work. I received a fatal error. Then I checked the error log and got this:

3) Deactivating plugins and changing the theme did not change the error.

Thanks for following up. The error log indicates that the issue is coming from your theme, specifically TwentyFifteen, which appears to be quite old. We recommend switching to a newer default theme (such as TwentyTwentyFour) and testing again.

Hi,
I already wrote, that I had changed the theme (to twentywentyfive) but I could not activate the theme. Do you have any further suggestions?

@tom2708 That quoted log line indicates a missing font file for older browsers and is completely unrelated to a PHP fatal error. Maybe check the error log again for other entries.

@tom2708 Ok, just wanted to point out that your described “fatal error” is totally unrelated to the quoted log line about missing font files for old browsers in theme.

If there is no other error log entry, you may have the same problem as some others where “Backup Now” simply doesn’t work in current version of plugin:
