 * Can anyone suggest a backup plugin that actually works. The nearest I’ve got 
   is Backuply. This gets to 65% then grinds to a halt. I’ve tried about 6 others
   which have not even got as far as that. I want to make a backup before uprating
   my php version. Everytime I do this it breaks my site hence the need for a backup.
   I’ve made one to c-panel on my hosts site but they warm I can’t restore from 
   it. Ta. HH

 * If this happens with multiple backup plugins, it could be due to server-side 
   settings. Perhaps there are timeouts or the disk space is insufficient.
 * Check under Tools > Site Health to see if there are any anomalies. Also check
   your hosting to see if you have enough storage space and if there are any entries
   in the error log.

 * According to my own experience – when one backup plugin wouldn’t work on some
   hosting (e.g, I always start with All in one WP migration), when I try another
   plugin (like Duplicator) it wouldn’t work (usually due to lack of server’s space,
   or old PHP version), although in some cases SaaS apps would work (like BlogVault).

 * I’m stumped at the moment. The plugins either won’t work or aren’t free (or at
   least not free if you want to use google drive). I have sufficient space on google
   drive and my php should work. I think its a memory issue with backuply. Is there
   a way of increasing the memory on the wordpress site?

 * If you think it’s due to the PHP memory limit, you’ll need to increase it in

 * However, you can see if this is the case in the error log. I would advise you
   to take a look at the error log anyway, as the actual cause should be visible
   there.

 * Do you mean the external storage you want to use? That may be the case, but the
   backup plugins first create the backups in the local hosting—there must be enough
   storage space available there.

 * OK so according to my host my stats are;
 * physical Memory Usage
 * 1.32 GB / 2 GB (65.87%) Disk Usage
 * 31.49 GB / 50 GB (62.99%) I/O Usage
 * 396 KB/s / 1 MB/s (38.67%)
 * I enabled debug as per the link you kindly sent me. Cannot find any debug file
   at location specified.
