base theme recommandations ?

Hi,
I’m about to start a project which should look like a long scroll-down one page site, only that there are going to be more than one page.
Sounds a bit silly, sorry, but that’s the way I can describe it best.

There are supposed to be 4 long pages with content put together from several posts (some full, some excerpts). What would be the best approach to build this ? Should I rather think about several custom post types, or could taxonomy determine where content should appear on the pages ?
For some recurring pieces of the pages widgets would be the right choice…

Quite a large way to post a question, I know..
I don’t have so much wordpress experience yet, and it would be nice to get some hints and advice how to think the structure of my project.
Your opinions about a base theme or theme framework that would point in the right direction here would be great.
