 * I’ve searched for help, but cannot locate any, so…
 * Trying to cut-down on comment spam — I’m installing Akismet. On the instructions,
   [http://codex.wordpress.org/User:Here/Akismet](http://codex.wordpress.org/User:Here/Akismet)
   I’m told that the API key is in “My Account” area, and it’s just not.
 * Thanks!

 * I use Spam Karma 2, and it’s great. I suggest you give it a shot if you continue
   to have problems.

 * Yes. “Click on the My Account link in the top right corner of the window, and
   note the API key in the first paragraph under the heading.”
 * This doesn’t exist.
 * When I click on MY ACCOUNT, the “Your Profile and Personal Options” page comes
   up, but no API#
 * There must be something I’m missing.

 * Well, if Spam Karma requires the API key, then my question remains…

 * I just installed SK; looks cool so far.
    Still no clue about the API thinger
   issue, but I may have a cleaner inbox now.
 * When are spammers going to realize that if they actually read a posting, comment
   on-topic and I approve it, they can return with the onslaught?
 * laters.

    You have to register a blog at WordPress.com – and in *that*
   blog it’s got the API. Seems a bit daft to me, as they’ve got a lot of blogs
   there I’d guess that have nothing but a URL … which is a pain for anyone who *
   wants* one there & can’t get the URL that they want.

 * Ditto for me — I do NOT have:
 * “To find your key go to your dashboard and then click on “Profile” (or “My Account”)
   and you should see a sentence that says “Your WordPress.com API key is:” followed
   by a string of 12 letters and numbers.”
 * as the FAQ page: [http://faq.wordpress.com/2005/10/19/api-key/](http://faq.wordpress.com/2005/10/19/api-key/)
   suggests…
 * What gives?

 * stenphen: If you have nothing there then either your wordpress.com blog is missing
   it or you do not have a blog at wordpress.com
 * [http://wordpress.com](http://wordpress.com)
    Do you have a blog there?

 * you’re presently at wordpress.ORG. you need to go to wordpress.COM for the key.
 * ORG is diffirent from COM.

 * Gotcha… pardon the ignorance, podz and charle97, but is an API key allowed at.
   com for a .org blog user? I see no indication that you can get a key without
   first become a .com member too, nor do logins work (.org) on the .com site… thanks
   for your input/feedback.

 * Go to wordpress.COM
    Register for a blog at wordpress.COM Use THAT id to log
   into your wordpress.COM blog — (no, you need not use it.)
 * Note: Now you have a wordpress.com blog. No, you need not ever use. No, you’re
   not defrauding anyone. Yes, this is how you get API keys.
 * Copy and Paste your key over to your own .org blog
    Vow to not overcomplicate
   in the future. 😉

 * Can do, HandySolo.
 * New users need a tad more spelling out sometimes…
 * Thanks.
