 * Constant nagging to upgrade to pro, pro caused nothing but problems with users
and logging in, also destroyed our SSL

 * [@adabob](https://wordpress.org/support/users/adabob/) I’m sorry to hear you
had problems with pro. What issues with users and logging in did you experience?
 * Not sure what you mean with “destroyed our SSL”. As the plugin can’t access the
location where your SSL certificate is stored, it can’t be about actually destroying
an SSL certificate. So I guess it’s probably something related to mixed content
on your site, or an issue with the SSL certificate provided by your hosting company,
which only your hosting company can fix.
 * If you’re interested in helping the community by giving feedback which can improve
the plugin, it would be great if you can provide us with some more detail so
   we can look into that.

 * Rogier, thanks for your reply.
I think the main problem is the need to separate
Security/SSL options as users often have already installed security programs.
When we first installed Really Simple SSL (RSS) it was in fact “really simple”
however with each new addition and the PRO option it’s now over complicated and
does things that we don’t feel are really SSL related so they may cause issues
with already installed programs. We say this because after upgrading to PRO and
then making changes as per the plug in the problems started. The new OTHER Plugins
or Addons don’t help, like Stats, Compliance etc. They just add to the confusion.
So the name “Really Simple SSL” has now become really complicated. IS there a
way to revert all changes back to normal using the free version and or the Pro
version. Does this happen when you deactivate both plugins?

 * [@adabob](https://wordpress.org/support/users/adabob/) thanks for your feedback,
appreciate that. If you deactivate the new hardening features, the code that
handles this is not loaded at all. So just disabling all hardening features will
get you back to the basics of the free plugin.
 * you can then enable ‘dismiss all notices’ which gets rid of the notifications.
 * Regarding the other plugins: these are entirely separate plugins which you can
deactivate if you don’t need them.
 * Deactivating the premium add-on will revert its changes. But you could also try
disabling all security headers one by one first. If pro is causing issues, in
most cases it is a too strict configured security header. I’d be happy to help
   with that of course.
 * for in-depth help with the security headers it might be easiest to contact us
   directly at [support@really-simple-ssl.com](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/basic-ssl-version-worked-anything-more-caused-problems/support@really-simple-ssl.com?output_format=md)
 * hope this answers some of your remarks!

 * So what we are basically ending up with is what we paid for is only temporary?
Once the subscription ends we lose what the plugin set up? This makes no sense.
I understand you want to make money but I think most users buy the plugin to
set up SIMPLE SSL and once it’s set up it’s a done deal. Then to hold users against
their will by demanding (messages and red icons) warning to upgrade is a bit
dishonest in my opinion. Should things change with SSL that is understandable
but for the plugin to stop working is dishonest.

 * The problems continue and from the above the creators don’t understand the problems,
while we know you don’t actually touch the SSL cert itself the problem is your
plugin changes cause problems for it to work or be implemented. Each day when
I open my dashboard I have USELESS and only annoying red warnings (which only
are used to create fear to get users to upgrade and pay). The initial payment
got me what I needed, (setting up SSL) So whose idea is it now that what was
set up correctly AND PAID TO DO SO, now all of a sudden no longer is acceptable?
Understand no more updates “Don’t want them or need them” But if you persist
to use the unwelcome tactics of fear removing everything you sell is the solution
