 * I’ve never seen such an obnoxious, heavy handed nag screen in a plugin. First
log-in after the plugin auto-updated and found my entire dashboard taken-over
with an ad for their new (premium) plugin. It doesn’t even seem to have an option
to permanently remove the ad either, only a tiny, almost invisible “remind me
later” button in the corner. I’ll never know if it reappears because this plugin
   is getting immediately uninstalled.
 * It might be great plugin, but now I’ll never know because on principle I’ll never
be installing a Hu-manity.co product on any of my sites.

 * Thanks for the review [@itsviney](https://wordpress.org/support/users/itsviney/)
 * We introduced the Compliance upgrade with the (admittedly aggressive) full splash
screen to attempt to communicate to Cookie Notice users that they are at risk
of not complying with the latest clarifications to existing data privacy laws(
as well as new laws coming into enforcement w/in next 18 months).
 * These clarifications include ‘Prior Consent Rules’, which state that consent
is invalid if cookies are set / sent prior to consent being registered. This
means your site must have an Autoblocking script in the site header (can be done
   manually in the free version).
 * Also included is a requirement to record ‘Proof-of-Consent’, which instructs
data controllers (i.e. the business behind the website) to store consent receipts
in a machine-readable standard. This means your site must maintain a database
of records that can be exported in case of a regulatory audit.
 * Cookie Compliance provides the Autoblocking and Consent Logs services (in addition
to consent analytics and many more UI/UX customizations) for a monthly subscription
because these services generate API and data storage costs.
 * While we agree that the full-screen takeover is both painful and annoying, we
made the decision to implement this approach as it was the most effective way
to bring your attention to the increasing compliance risk that you / your customers
   are facing.
 * We wish you the best of luck in finding a new solution – just make sure Autoblocking
   and Consent Logs are included!
