    Hi. Still fighting to ramp up the first version of my blog, so no link yet unless you say it is absolutely necessary I open it. 🙂

    To start from the end, I wish my blog to have sidebar features like in here: https://www.feld.com/
    Explicitly – on the left, ‘sticky’/fixed sidebar for the page, and on the right ‘sticky’/fixed sidebar that is per-post. Is it possible with this plugin?

    However now I am fighting with much basic problems: I am using the twenty-sixteen theme. Whatever I do, I cannot get Custom Sidebars plugin to change anything! I tried to attach to specific posts (in the screen for editing a respective post), define the theme sidebar as per-post and allowed for replacement, nothing. My own custom sidebar never appear. PS – like in the link above, everything is on the homepage, not separate post pages.
    The plugin is now activated while all other plugins are not.

    Thanks for any help! 🙂

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hey @ariyosko,

    Hope you’re well today.

    First of all, I want to explain what Custom Sidebars do to clarify that;

    Custom Sidebars can’t add a new sidebar to your site that your theme doesn’t provide. It’s only changing your theme sidebars content with some conditions. It can’t add/edit any visual properties. All visual properties or widget styles always will be based on your theme.

    I tried to change sidebar with the same theme and it’s working, let me show you steps so you can try like this;

    I created a new sidebar with Custom Sidebars and place one text widget inside to understand sidebar change or not, then allowed sidebar from the “Allow this sidebar to be replaced” option;

    On post editing page I change Sidebar to “Test Sidebar” from sidebars metabox;

    Then when I check the post page it’s changed.

    So if it’s not working for you, maybe its only browser cache, did you try from the incognito window?

    Cheers,
    Oguz
