I’ve started work on 4.0, which will have two major sets of changes.

The first is I’m moving it to the admin framework I use, because the previous code base builds settings pages out of pure PHP and HTML and that gets to be a real challenge to maintain.

The second set of changes is adding hooks and filters. I want to give you (and me) the opportunity to easily extend/modify the functionality of the product without having to go in and hack the core.

So… these changes could possibly break your stuff. I’d really appreciate it if some of you would go over to my Lab Notes page and sign up for the mailing list. Then, when I’m ready to ask for testing, I can get you involved early and make sure 4.0 remains compatible with your data and your sites. I will also post notices here, but I want to give us as good a chance as possible to get testers.

As for when, I frankly have no idea. The code I inherited is very clean, so any challenges I have will most likely be of my own making.

    Stay tuned!

P.S. Go ahead and subscribe to this post, too. That will be a second way I can reach out to you in your inbox if it’s time to do some testing.
