Can’t work on side bar widgets, the page is blank. Theme 2016, use apple/safari. No plug ins because it is free version. I also get a pinkish message bar at top of screen when working. ‘The “page-patterns” plugin has encountered an error and cannot be rendered.’

Tried switching themes and using different browser, no joy. Any help is greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance!

I am astonished. You say you don’t use a plugin, but then you get a message about a plugin?

Can you please show a screenshot of the error message? See: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/forum-user-guide/block-editor/#adding-screenshots

Why I ask: I suspect a server-side error from a component you are using. A look at the error log could also help you here.

“No plug ins because it is free version”. If you’re using wordpress.com: To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and ww.wp.xz.cn are two different entities: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/documentation/article/difference-between-wordpress-org-and-wordpress-com/

Due to the differences between the various “types” of WordPress offered at wordpress.com and the self-hosted and self-installed version of WordPress supported here, you should probably ask WordPress.com support instead: https://wordpress.com/support/help-support-options/
