 * Since the WordPress update I have not been able to edit posts in the block editor
as haf way down each page, the blocks are blocked (!) by a series of drop down
menus as in the image link.
 * Two of the these are related to plugins – Yoast and Ultimate Social Media. If
I disable these the dropdowns disappear. One is, rather unfortunately, related
to the theme I use, which is a real problem for such a large site.
 * But one of the dropdowns is actually for the post settings themselves. Which
I can do nothing about as that’s an actual WP thing. Anyone else having this
problem? Fixes, advice, anything would be good. I’ve temporarily went back to
the classic editor but would rather have a proper fix. Many thanks.
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fblock-editor-problem%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * Post details on the Yoast, Ultimate Social Media and your theme’s support forums
   respectively.
There were big changes in 5.4. so bugs are to be expected (even
though they still suck). The developers can’t fix what they don’t know about
   though 🙂

 * I have done and deactivated the plugins. It’s the WordPress problem that I’m
   trying to get resolved. Thanks.

 * Generally plugins need to ensure compatibility with WordPress, not the other
   way around.
So you would (generally) not be reporting the matter to WordPress.
org (which would be done in a Trac ticket if it had to happen). Instead you would(
again generally) inform the plugin developer so that **they** can make the necessary
   changes to become compatible.
 * If it does genuinely point to a bug in Core, the plugin dev is the best person
to create the ticket, since they can add more technical detail.

 * There is a problem with the Core because even after deactivating the plugins
there is still a drop down appearing in the middle of the block editor which
   relates to Post Settings.
 * I have posted with the plugin developers although one of them simply said “tell
   WordPress”! THanks.

 * You can report it here:
I can’t guarantee that it will be changed though.
 * All the best.
