# Body Background changes header background

 * Am trying to keep a transparent background in the header – if I have the body
   in the style.css as transparent the header is transparent, but I need the body
   to have a white background and when I change it to #fff it also changes the header
   even though the header.
 * Here is the CSS for the body and header …

 * I can change the header to any color – the body color seems to extend to the 
   full length of the page.

 * It’s the stark theme as it is listed at the bottom of the page.
 * I installed it from the themes / install section in wordpress itself. I didn’t
   do much else than change the background and try and change the header.

 * I’m sorry but that doesn’t appear to be a WPORG theme, so you may need to seek
   support from the theme’s developers – paid or otherwise. We only support themes
   downloaded from wordpress.org here.

 * It helps tremendously if you provide the correct theme name. For a start, do 
   not edit the theme itself. First [create a child theme for your changes](http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes).
   Or install a [custom CSS plugin](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=custom+css).

 * Yes, it is a child theme .. copied directory, changed name etc. I’ll look at 
   the custom CSS plugin though. Thanks.

 * You won’t need the plugin if you’re using a child theme. You can add your CSS
   changes directly to your child’s style.css file.
