Breadcrumbs Missing Catagories

    We have been using the Breadcrumb NavXT for a while on our site but have found a few problems. Sometimes, for some products the hierarchy skips a category.

    An example…
    The Hierarchy

    Products
- Cable Protection
- - Heatshrink
- - - Product Name (usually starts with QV)

    Heatshrink in this particular example does not display in the breadcrumb trail in any of the products listed under that category.

    Yet I can go to

    Products
- Lighting
- - LED Lightbars
- - - Product Name (again starts with QV)

    and everything appears fine.
    I have checked both the “Lighting” and “Cable Protection” categories and cannot seem to see any difference.

    Any ideas? I have been through most things including the NavXT settings but cannot seem to narrow down the issue.

    Is the product an explicit member of Cable Protection and Heatshrink? If so, that’s the cause of the problem. Only have items an explicit member of the most specific term in an hierarchy; the item will automatically become an implicit member of all of the term’s parents.

    We are using another Plugin (Shopp) which I believes manages the categories. For example, I select “Catalog” from the WordPress menu on the left, then products. When I add the product to the site I can check which categories I would like the product to sit under.

    The person who originally setup the website no longer works with us so we are trying to sort out a few things. We can’t get hold of him anymore.

    If this doesnt make sense, would you be interested in helping us? If so, contact me with a price and I will seek approval from the business owner.
