Thus, i can drill down through Home>Portfolio page>Sub Portfolio page>Gallery page>Individual Post. and the full breadcrumb path now works perfectly, without diverting back to the Theme’s categories displays. * However, I have now created another issue for myself, in that I am also using a Tag Cloud at the bottom of preset Gallery pages. Is there a way that i can apply settings in NavXT (without affecting what i have already got working) to enable the viewer to return to the last page they were viewing after using a Tag? * In other words, let us suppose that I go Home>Portfolio page>Wildlife Portfolio page>Birds Gallery page and, instead of going to individual Post, I then click on “Hawaii” Tag, the breadcrumb path immediately just becomes Home>Hawaii * Many thanks, and sorry if it is a dumb question * [http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/breadcrumb-navxt/](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/breadcrumb-navxt/) Viewing 6 replies - 1 through 6 (of 6 total) * Plugin Author [John Havlik](https://wordpress.org/support/users/mtekk/) * (@mtekk) * [13 years, 3 months ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/breadcrumbs-when-using-tags/#post-3524305) * If you could expand on your last example it would be helpful (e.g. what you would expect rather than Home > Hawaii as the output). Assuming you want something like Home > Portfolio page > Wildlife Portfolio Page > Birds Gallery page > Hawaii, with Hawaii being a tag you’ll probably need to map that tag to an actual page. Unless you only have the Hawaii tag for the Birds Gallery page (and do not have it associated with any other posts/page/CPTs). * Even then, there isn’t a combination of settings for the plugin that will facilitate this behavior. To do what you want would require an extension plugin that would override the behavior for tag archives within the plugin. * Thread Starter [David996911](https://wordpress.org/support/users/david996911/) * (@david996911) * [13 years, 3 months ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/breadcrumbs-when-using-tags/#post-3524306) * Thanks very much for the response and yes, looking at it again, I could have explained myself a lot better: * Ok, the Tags do two things: First they can act as a filter, so that instead of browsing through the entire bird gallery the viewer can click on say the Bluebird Tag. secondly, if I have a category based gallery page for birds and another for landscapes and another for surfing, then clicking the Hawaii Tag will produce a page which pools images, which were shot in Hawaii, from all of those different categories. * The category based galleries are actual pages which i have created, based on the theme’s gallery template. I have created a hierarchy using page parents at the upper end and your Post Parent plugin at the bottom end. But beyond that, the Tags are being used to produce a dynamic gallery automatically by the Theme. The breadcrumb shows the name of the Tag, but only as a child of Home and not of the gallery page they were on when they clicked the Tag. * I hope that makes a little more sense. It sounds like my initial assumption was correct. Now as to how to make it work, I’m thinking that my original idea probably is the only way to get it to work. Breadcrumb NavXT will try to guess what the root page should be for a taxonomy archive based on the first member of the current archive page. This, unfortunately won’t help you here. * This is an interesting problem, and something I may play around with and eventually release an extension plugin for.
