• Hi, I have been working on many various websites over the past 20 years or so, for my own satisfaction, and I’ve been building all types of interesting blogs, eCommerce, fan pages and so on for a while now.

But if there is one single thing that really raise the hair on my chin, is the look of your dashboard on WordPress 5.x. It has become so.. dull/plain .. it makes the workflow so much uncomfortable to use. Yes it might have some good functionality.. for some people but it is a real pain when you actually know what your want and you expect to find it immediately.

Of course, i get it, “It needs to be more user-friendly to make it easy to use for everybody” … Well, user friendly does not mean “idiot friendly”.

    – When i write a post, i want everything to be there on my sight. Take away this “paragraph maker” thing, and let me the full page “free to use”.. like the old dashboard!
    – When i make a table , why do i have to scroll thru the whole menu to get to “Common blocks then Layout elements then Formating” ?

The whole world is NOT interested in your “Easy to use for Tablets” format! (Yes, that’s what we call WEB 2.0!)
It kills the whole web experience in managing the site for folks like me who’ve been around since the dial-up days!

Please bring back the old dashboard, and i DON’T mean some fancy looking plugin called “WP Classic kit” gizmo. I want the old dashboard like 4.9 or something like that. You could let the user choose during the install with an example screenshot of both, side to side, that would be nice. (Very simple to do, i’m sure).

    Bring back the old dashboard!
    Please thank you.

Note: This is soo going on my blog !

No, we will not be bringing back the old editor. If you want to use the classic editor, then use the plugin for that. There will not be a “choice” inserted into the install process either. The block editor is the future, the classic editor is the past. Eventually the classic editor will be deprecated or removed.

You don’t. Type “/table” at the beginning of a new block to make a new table block. All blocks can be quickly accessed in this way.

Then feel free to use a different free software package. WordPress is free, and you’re free to do with it as you like.

Where is the hyperlink button? I don’t see it anywhere (and I think I looked everywhere). I paste in my blog text, but I am unable to insert hyperlinks (like I have right now as I type this comment). Also, it told me that my blog text is too long, but I only pasted in the first paragraph! It’s going to be a lot longer than that.

    Thank you.

Hmmm, I found the hyperlink button, but when I published my blog the hyperlink did not carry over (neither did any of the other formatting). It is just plain, unformatted text. So I had to delete the blog post. Any hints?
