 * Website: [fundimental.co.za](http://www.fundimental.co.za), WP Theme Horizillax
 * What I was doing: functions.php editor – I inserted the code as per method 2
   here:
    [https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/add-google-analytics-wordpress/?nlv=b&utm_expid=3606929-35.im_xHH3rTkmdlc6O7wpMUQ.1&utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.co.uk%2F](https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/add-google-analytics-wordpress/?nlv=b&utm_expid=3606929-35.im_xHH3rTkmdlc6O7wpMUQ.1&utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.co.uk%2F)
 * When I went back to GA, it was still not registered and I decided to remove and
   try again. I thought I deleted everything I had added. I believe what I actually
   did was leave behind an additional:
 * <?php
 * <?php } ?>
 * Obviously as soon as I updated, WSOD on both wp-admin and site.
 * When I went back to my designer, she tells me she did not backup my page files!?!?
 * I am kicking myself thoroughly. Is there anyway to rescue this?

 * generally, try using FTP to upload an unedited copy of **functions.php** into
   your theme;
 * [http://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients](http://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients)
 * alternatively, use FTP to rename the folder name of your theme to something else;
   this should activate the default theme Twenty Fifteen, and allow you back into
   the dashboard. you can then repair the broken file(s) in your theme, rename the
   theme’s folder back to original, and re-activate the theme.
 * if you need help with finding or installing this unedited functions.php, please
   contact the developer of your theme for support; [http://codex.wordpress.org/Forum_Welcome#Commercial_Products](http://codex.wordpress.org/Forum_Welcome#Commercial_Products)
 * ps:
    try using a plugin for the GA code – [https://wordpress.org/plugins/search.php?q=google+analytics+code](https://wordpress.org/plugins/search.php?q=google+analytics+code)
