# Bug: Multiple users cannot have same email address

 * When I upgraded to 2.8.2, the ability to register multiple users with the same
   email address disappeared. This is seriously annoying, since now I have to make
   up fake email addresses for some accounts.
 * I can sort of see how it might be beneficial not to allow users to register themselves
   with the same email address, but I don’t see why admins should be unable to do
   so. Could you please, please, please bring back that very useful feature?

 * If you use a GMail account, you can try to put dot inside the username:
 * > [username@gmail.com](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/bug-multiple-users-cannot-have-same-email-address/username@gmail.com?output_format=md)
   > 
   > [user.name@gmail.com](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/bug-multiple-users-cannot-have-same-email-address/user.name@gmail.com?output_format=md)
   > [us.er.na.me@gmail.com](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/bug-multiple-users-cannot-have-same-email-address/us.er.na.me@gmail.com?output_format=md)
 * GMail corrects it to your default account, but sites tends to interpret them 
   as different addresses.
 * Maybe you can use the plus trick too.

 * I’ve never tested it but yes, you can!
