Bug Report: Gallery Field causes extreme vertical cropping of Feature Image
-
Description: I have encountered a significant UI/UX bug where images are rendered as extremely narrow vertical strips in the WordPress backend. This issue affects both the Featured Image and the ASE Gallery Field.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Assign a “Gallery” field (from the ASE plugin) to a specific Custom Post Type (created with ASE).
- Create a new post or edit an existing one within that CPT.
- Upload or select an image for the Featured Image or the Gallery Field.
- Observe the thumbnail preview in the sidebar (Featured Image) and the gallery grid.
Observed Behavior:
- The images are rendered as very thin, distorted vertical “slivers” or strips.
- Inspecting the image URL reveals that WordPress/the plugin is generating or requesting an incorrectly cropped thumbnail version (e.g., extremely high but very narrow dimensions).
- Crucially: If the Gallery Field is removed/unassigned from the Post Type, the issue disappears for new posts, and Featured Images are rendered correctly again. The presence of the Gallery Field seems to interfere with the standard thumbnail generation or the CSS/attributes of the Featured Image container.
Expected Behavior: Images should maintain their aspect ratio or follow the standard WordPress thumbnail cropping rules without being distorted into narrow strips, regardless of whether a Gallery Field is present on the page.
