Hello, my friend,
If your MaxCDN setup uses a different subdomain for delivering your images, then I ‘m afraid there is nothing much our plugin can do. You see, this way the CDN completely circumvents your WordPress installation when delivering images. This is why we have marked this feature as “experimental”, because a lot of CDNs leave our hands tied. But we cannot know this in advance unfortunately. The ?resolution=... parameter is our “desperate” attempt to try and work around this, yet we have no definitive solution so far. We are still working on it, though.
I hope this helps you understand the way the plugin works a little better.
Let me know if there is anything more I can do for you.
Cheers,
Takis
Hello,
Sorry for the probably obvious question, what is the subdomain for MaxCDN?
What do I need to do with my MaxCDN so that it has the same subdomain as my WordPress Site?
An example would be helpful.
Thanks
Hello, again,
You can see that subdomain if you do an “inspect element” on your images. Also you can do “view source” in your web page and check the urls of your images. What you will see, in any case, should most probably be a different domain than the domain of your website.
Unfortunately, I cannot give you exact instructions on how to setup MaxCDN, as it is a proprietary service. However, I can tell you that in order for it to work along with Adaptive Images, the CDN has to pass the requests for images on to the server exactly as they are made by the browser, along with their url parameters and cookies and be able to cache them this way. I know this sounds a bit technical, but this is how it is. We will try to have some hands-on tests with such CDNs ourselves in the future and let our users know.
Last but not least, bear in mind that our support for CDNs is -even in the above case- still a bit experimental, as we have denoted in our plugin settings page. This doesn’t mean that anything breaks, but there’s a substantial amount of cases where images are not resized, although the plugin works as expected.
Hope I didn’t confuse you more with all these details.
If you do not want to get into the technical stuff, the bottom line is probably this: you have to choose between using the Adaptive Images plugin or a CDN, but, unfortunately, not both together.
Cheers,
Takis
