 * I can’t seem to get the Automatic Updater to work. When I trigger the automatic-
   updater.php file directly I get the following error:
 * **Fatal error: **Call to undefined function plugin_basename() in xxxx/wp-content/
   plugins/automatic-updater/automatic-updater.php on line 23
 * Please help..

 * Automatic Updater is not meant to be accessed directly, it’s a plugin for WordPress.
 * In wp-admin, go to _Settings_ -> _Automatic Updater_ to configure it.

 * Hi Gary,
    The reason why I accessed it directly is because the plugin doesn’t
   update my wordpress installation. I don’t get an error or receive an email. I
   figured that if I access it directly I will be able to find out why it doesn’t
   work.
 * The plugin is properly installed and is activated. Do you have any clue why it
   won’t initiate?

 * A few thoughts:
 * * On the settings page, do you have all the options checked to keep WordPress,
   your themes and plugins up to date? (Only the WordPress core option is checked
   by default.)
    * Do you have the Better WP Security plugin installed? If so, you
   will need to stop it from hiding updates. * When you normally click the Update
   button, does everything update automatically? Do you need to type in FTP login
   details?

 * Thanks for your thoughts. After I added my FTP settings to the wp-config.php
   file the plugin started working perfectly!
